Still remember with Watson? IBM-made super computer that defeated man in the game of intelligence test is now used also for medical interests.
IBM has signed a partnership with the health insurance company WellPoint WellPoint uses technology to allow Watson to give advice on treatment or early diagnosis to the patient.
This cooperation agreement, as reported by The Wall Street Journal and quoted on Monday (09/12/2011), marking the first time Watson's technology is used in commercial applications.
Wellpoint hopes, Watson technology can help improve the quality of patient care and help cut costs. This system will be introduced next year by starting to be used by nurses who review the requests of health care from a doctor.
The plan, Watson will be extended to the use of the experts selected Oncology and made for easy access by physicians through their own devices.
IBM's Watson claims the technology can process 200 million pages of content in the speed of less than three seconds. Thus, Watson considered tough are used to review various medical lietaratur.
